Health world-first from Hemel business makes debut in Parliament

GAMA Healthcare has introduced MPs to a world first for healthcare, with the presentation of its portable isolation facility at an event hosted by Hemel Hempstead MP, Sir Mike Penning.

GAMA Healthcare, which is headquartered on Maylands Avenue, presented Rediroom to Ministers and Members of Parliament at an event on 22 February. The Rediroom unit, which is the world’s first instant mobile isolation room, was launched 18 months ago after more than five years of development. More than 350 are currently used in NHS hospitals across the UK, helping to protect against the spread of infectious disease from pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), norovirus and MRSA.

The company recently announced plans to supply Rediroom internationally, working with contacts across the globe, including in Japan, the Middle East and United States. GAMA Healthcare, a leader in infection prevention and control, is also the primary supplier of disinfectant wipes to the NHS.

Dr Guy Braverman, Joint Chief Executive of GAMA Healthcare, said:

“The past two years have shown the importance of being able to isolate patients with infectious conditions, without taking wards and resources out of service. The Rediroom has an important role in protecting patients and staff from the spread of infectious disease. And whilst it’s currently used in healthcare, we’re excited by its ability to support other public services or to protect patrons in busy venues. I’m very grateful to Sir Mike for his support and the opportunity to showcase this example of UK innovation to MPs.”

Sir Mike Penning, MP for Hemel Hempstead, said:

“GAMA Healthcare is a fantastic example of a British business that’s continually investing and innovating. They are rightly recognised as an international leader in infection prevention, and I’m delighted to support them in demonstrating what is a world-first in the Rediroom to my colleagues in Parliament.”
