Net Zero International explain the latest Net Zero regulation for procurement:
From 30th September 2021 suppliers bidding for major public sector contracts above £5million a year will need to have committed to achieve net zero by 2050 and have published a carbon reduction plan. Firms which fail to do so will be excluded from bidding for contracts.
Businesses will be excluded from the bidding process if they fail to commit to reducing their emission and achieving net zero by 2050, if they fail to declare their organisational emissions or if they do not have a detailed plan of how they intend to achieve this target. Contracting authorities must verify that successful suppliers meet the criteria before any contract can be awarded. Officials may also request evidence at any time during the procurement process.
David and the team are happy to discuss Net Zero plans with any business that requires it.
