Sir Mike Penning MP has tabled an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons to thank and recognise the dedicated work of local volunteers coordinated by Community Action Dacorum. Early Day Motions are never debates, but are used by MPs to highlight particular issues and recognise special situations.
Community Action Dacorum and the volunteer response for covid-19 vaccines
Sir Mike Penning:
That this House expresses its thanks and gratitude for the efforts of the volunteers from all over the Hemel Hempstead area who have worked tirelessly throughout the covid-19 outbreak; and recognises the compassion that has been shown by the local community during the pandemic that has contributed to NHS operations in Dacorum and across the Borough of Dacorum, particularly with the rollout of the vaccines; commends Community Action Dacorum for coordinating the volunteer response with the GP led vaccine hub at Maxted Road working alongside our fantastic NHS professionals and local government key staff.
Sir Mike said: “I have been fortunate enough to join local volunteers on several shifts at the Vaccination Centre in Maxted Road. The volunteers, coordinated superbly by Community Action Dacorum, have done fabulous work supporting the medical staff.
It has often been dark and cold, but the volunteers keep coming back for more. We are so lucky in Dacorum to have so many people who are prepared to give up their time to help the community. I pay tribute to them all. “
Congratulations to all involved
