As Christmas approaches our thoughts turn to the less fortunate and helping those in need. We receive many requests every year for your support, and today have two festive pleas to share with you.
The first is from Hemel Hempstead Rotary who plan to run their Santa sleigh over a limited amount of nights this year, but are going to struggle with collecting the money they need to help many local causes.
Secondly, The Hospice of St Francis, they have missed out on running so many events this year but are still providing their outstanding care to patients and their families when they need it… They have teamed up with Ambassador Chuffed Productions to produce a fantastic video to ask for your support:
Santa needs your help!
Despite lockdown, Santa and his Sleigh are still hoping to make an appearance at some point in the run-up to Christmas! If Government restrictions allow, Santa will tour our local streets after 4th December. Santa and his helpers will not, however, be knocking on doors to collect money.
Hemel Rotary needs all the help they can get to spread the word so that children and parents know when Santa is on his way and can be on their doorsteps to greet him. A full timetable of routes will appear at the beginning of December on the Hemel Rotary Facebook page and website www.hemelhempsteadrotary.co.uk They hope that people will donate online at JustGiving.com/campaign/HemelSanta
“Last year we collected around £18,000 for more than 40 local charities. We want to do all we can to raise as much as possible this year for all the deserving causes who need our help more than ever,” said Beverley Funnell, President, Hemel Rotary. “The collector organisations are committed to helping out as they do every year so that children get a chance to see Santa pass down their street, bringing some much-needed festive cheer for everyone.”
Some sponsors have already signed up to support Santa but more help is needed to make up the expected shortfall in collections. Hemel Rotary is hoping that individuals and local companies will contribute. Supporting businesses will be recognised on the Rotary website and can proudly show off the ‘I’m supporting Santa’ logo online or in stores and offices.
Santa’s Sleigh is Hemel Rotary Club’s biggest fundraising activity supporting a host of smaller charities and organisations. All the money received goes back to the local community.

Hospice of St Francis
Time spent as a family is precious, especially at Christmas and even more so when a loved one is living with a life-limiting illness.
Help us to give more families the greatest gift of all this Christmas, including:
- a welcome call from one of our Bereavement Support team
- a Christmas present for the children in our care
- a visit from our Community Nursing Team
Find out more about what your donation can mean to those in our care by taking the time to watch our short film.
You, are our community and at the heart of what we do. We are here for you and because of you.
We love your support and we rely on it. This could be the most important gift you give this Christmas.
