Box Moor Trust Elections

The Trustees of the Box Moor Trust  are chosen by the public through an election every five years. The 2020 election will be held between 7th – 21st October and will be run by an independent election service provider by post, internet, telephone and text. Anybody over the age of 18 who lives within the Area of Benefit is eligible to apply, and vote.

The Trust positively welcomes people from all backgrounds, genders, abilities and ethnicities and hopes the election will result in a Board of Trustees to reflect the whole community of Hemel Hempstead and Bovingdon.

Chair of the Box Moor Trust, David Kirk said: “We need an array of skills on the Board to meet our responsibilities and to manage the Estate effectively. The more income we can earn the more we can do for the community. Apart from an interest in our land, you may support the arts, opportunities for young people, sport, heritage, help for aged and those with special needs or other important local issues. So, there are many ways that you can help provide benefits for our community. Whilst there is a team culture it is also an organisation where an individual can really make a difference. Both currently, and in the past, I have had the privilege of working with many very special Trustees.

Together we have doubled your lands over this time and have substantially increased our support to and contacts with the community as a whole. It is true that income from a key lease facilitated this but our progress would not have been possible without huge voluntary effort and dedication by Trustees over that period. It is essential that we continue to strive towards sustainable income so that all our good work can continue and flourish.”

In accordance with the constitution, there is to be an election in October 2020 for six new Trustees.  11 local people are standing for election and their reasons for standing, as well as their skills and experience can be found below. Click on each candidates name to find out more about them. Residents on the electoral register living in the Trust’s Area of Benefit are entitled to vote. The Area of Benefit basically covers the wards of Hemel Hempstead and Bovingdon with some exceptions in Bourne End and Flaunden.

Civica  is running this ballot on behalf of the Box Moor Trust and you are able to vote by post, Internet, phone or text.

Ballot packs will be sent to each address in the area of benefit which appears on the electoral register but the names of the voters will not be revealed. If there is more than one adult in the property normally eligible to vote in local and national government elections, additional ballot packs can be requested by contacting Civica Election Services Customer Services Department by calling 020 8889 9203 or emailing them at Support-CESvotes@civica.co.uk , stating that you are requesting them for the Box Moor Trust election.

It is intended to send out ballot packs during the week of the 28th September 2020.  Please ask for additional packs by 15th October to ensure you get them in time to return them before the deadline. To be counted, all votes must be received by midnight on 21st October 2020. You may vote for up to 6 candidates but (however you choose to vote) you may only vote once.
