August is all about Family and Friends and brings another countywide HYOC2020 competition – we are asking residents to share what family means to them and the winning entry will then be turned into a short animated film. Please find a poster and press release attached.
There will be lockdown art exhibition in The Marlowes Centre, organised by our Dacorum Herts Visual Arts representative Anna Schofield, which will also be used for HVA’s Open Studios in September. Also a big thanks to The Marlowes Centre for the brilliant and vibrant HYOC2020 display, where River Island shop used to be – do look out for it next time you are there.
Our #TAG dance project continues with online dance workshops in August, these will form part of a community live online performance in the autumn, along with the animation artwork created in the July workshops.
There will also be a virtual wellness festival on 23rd August from the new Active Dacorum Hub in Grovehill, subway street art project, and the Community Partnership Team is also is also busy planning Zoom Chatter Tables, a Your Town fitness challenge, and October’s online Fun Palace event. If anyone is interested in taking part in our virtual Fun Palace and can offer an online activity, please get in touch!
The Community Partnerships Team has been adapting events for online delivery where possible, as a decision was taken by senior management last week to cancel all face-to-face events for the rest of this calendar year (please note this is a decision relating the Community Partnerships Team events and not a council-wide directive). Many of you have also adapted brilliantly to offer fabulous online activities and keep people active and well during these past few months. Many embracing new technology and quickly learning new skills to do this. Thank you to everyone for all of your hard work to support those in our community!
August activities will be updated soon on our HYOC2020 webpage and please click on the link for current July activities, as well as checking our Active Dacorum Twitter and Facebook pages for news and updates.
