West Herts College: New Construction and Engineering Centre ready and waiting

West Herts College has added a brand-new Construction and Engineering Centre to its campus in Hemel Hempstead town centre.

For Ambassadors familiar with the college, this is the new block that’s been going up next to the modern main building which opened its doors a couple of years ago. Completion of the Construction and Engineering Centre marks the end of current College development on the site, with the first new students scheduled to come through the doors in September.

Awaiting them is an extensive range of industry-standard workshops, study areas and modern equipment. Needless to say, social distancing will shape the experience for students, apprentices and staff – with government safety guidelines being introduced throughout the campus.

Employer partnerships will remain a key feature of the professional teaching here, with links to local businesses central to shaping the expertise that students and apprentices will develop. New courses now available include: Civil Engineering, Electrical Installation, Engineering, Motor Vehicle Maintenance, Plumbing and Welding.

West Herts College: Phased campus reopening

West Herts College is re-opening its campuses for specific groups of students from Monday 15 June. The young people returning have been contacted directly and arrangements are in place to provide them with a Covid-secure campus.

‘We’re looking forward to reopening safely to small groups of students,’ said Deputy Principal Sarah Knowles. ‘We’re following government advice to ensure we provide a safe and secure environment – and will continue to review this as the guidelines are updated.’

The College campuses will remain closed to the general public for now, but you can still take a look around online, follow news on social media and ask questions via the website’s live-chat.
