Hightown staff raise over £5,000 for Hertfordshire Mind Network

Hightown Housing Association recently awarded Hertfordshire Mind Network with a cheque for £5,145 following a year of fundraising activities.

Hightown have been raising money for the local charity through a variety of fundraising events and initiatives such as a Quiz Night, Christmas wreath making, seasonal bake sales and dress down days. A group of staff also recently took part in a sponsored 5k run and raised £645! Many of the group were novice runners, and followed the ‘Couch to 5K’ programme before completing the Gadebridge Parkrun in Hemel Hempstead.

Both Hightown and Hertfordshire Mind Network work to treat individuals with respect, whilst promoting independence and choice. Hightown currently provides dedicated support for over 150 residents with mental health issues across 15 services in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Types of service include supported living, registered care units and community outreach.

Julie Nicholson, Chief Executive of Hertfordshire Mind Network said:

“Hertfordshire Mind Network is thrilled to be the Hightown sponsored charity. We have been amazed and inspired by the fundraising that has taken place within their teams over the last 12 months. This additional funding will enable us to reach out and support more people who are experiencing mental ill health in our local communities. We are hoping this new connection with a housing provider will open more doors for partnership working and we look forward to developing our partnership with Hightown over the year ahead.”

The Hertfordshire Mind Network delivers crucial mental health support in Hertfordshire, providing a range of services from seven Wellbeing Centres and other venues across the county. Funded locally, services are available to all residents in Hertfordshire over the age of 18, as well as dedicated services for 16 – 18 year olds.
