D-Lab invests Dacorum Dragon’s Den award money on state of the art 3D

On the 20th July this year D-Lab Studios were one of the winners of the Dacorum Dragon’s Den and were thrilled to receive £1000.

This was spent on 2 ‘Up Mini’ 3D printers. Ed Fish, Director of Programme at D-Lab says “We are so pleased to have been able to purchase these state of the art machines ,as they will allow us to run 3D printing workshops in Berkhamsted and give everyone the opportunity to explore this new creative technology”. Details of the workshops will be released soon.

The photo is of Xavi Baker, 15, a local student who did his Duke of Edinburgh scheme with us and then stayed on as a volunteer. He is a regular at our Open Make Nights on Tuesdays.

Xavi was very pleased to be the first person to open UP-Mini’s when they arrived on Tuesday 6th Nov. They will be well utilised!

Organised by Dacorum Borough Council and supported by local sponsors, Dacorum’s Den is a business grant scheme, based on the popular TV show, which gives budding local entrepreneurs the chance to apply for up to £1,000 to grow and develop a business idea.

Since it was launched in 2011, over £60,000 has been invested in business growth and 53 new jobs created.
