Hemel Hempstead’s new Splash Park proved a hit with the youngsters at the official opening on Saturday afternoon (28 July 2018).
The newest addition to Gadebridge Park features jets and fountains and was bathed in sunshine for most of the afternoon as more than 1,000 people turned out for the ceremony.
As part of the opening event local triple Guinness World Record Magician Martin Rees (who featured in Britain’s Got Talent) performed a wonderfully wet magic stunt.
Councillor Andrew Williams, Leader of the Council, who did a countdown in the lead-up to the opening, said: “The new splash park is absolutely amazing and is free for everyone to use and enjoy. Our £1million investment has helped transform Gadebridge Park into an exciting water play and splash area for families to come and have fun for years to come.”
Visitors to the event also enjoyed free inflatable fun and music from Radio Dacorum throughout the afternoon.
Councillor Janice Marshall, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, said: “I’m delighted to see our fantastic new splash park in action. Splash parks are very popular in other areas and we’re excited to offer our residents this experience on their own doorsteps. It’s a wonderful amenity for the community and will provide a safe fun activity for children to enjoy in the summer months.”
Gadebridge Splash Park will be open every day from 10am to 6pm until September.
