A local organisation that supports people of all ages through music and movement has received a £2,000 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Hemel Hempstead.
Make a Move Dance Academy was founded on the belief that music and movement can improve people’s mental health. Since it got started, the organisation has been running customised sessions and projects for disadvantaged children and young adults in the area.
The money will go towards facility hire and equipment so Make a Move can continue running classes for low income families in the community.
To celebrate the donation, members of the Amazon team visited the organisation to learn more about the work Make a Move does in the area.
Speaking on the visit, Amazon Associate, Karam Sokhey, said: “Visiting the Make a Move team and seeing first-hand the great work they do with people in the community was a great experience. Everyone in the class was having so much fun dancing and enjoying themselves! I hope this donation goes some way to getting more people involved.”
Zoe Mackie, Founder of Make a Move, said: “We were over the moon when the team at Amazon Hemel Hempstead got in touch and surprised us with a donation. We see the benefits of music and creative movement all the time, and this money will help us reach as many people as possible. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Amazon Hemel Hempstead for their generous donation.”
The donation forms part of the ‘Amazon in the Community’ programme whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
