Natalia Jedynak was selected by Amazon as an Operations Apprentice in Hemel Hempstead through its apprenticeship programme and now works at the local site for ICQA – Inventory Control Quality Assurance in Amazon.
Natalia, who joined Amazon in 2013, started her course in September 2017 and will spend two years on a programme of study at Bedford College and work-based assessments at the site in Hemel Hempstead. She is one of 10 local residents selected to join the prestigious apprenticeship programme at the local fulfilment centre.
“My career has taken off since I started working at Amazon. I have had the amazing opportunity to expand my skillset and work in many different areas including Inbound Stow and First Aid. I am now excited to take my career to the next level as an Amazon Operations Apprentice, working for Inventory Control Quality Assurance.
“From what I’ve experienced on my course so far, I find working as an Operations Apprentice very rewarding, both personally and professionally. I love that every day is different, and I get to work with an exceptionally talented team that motivates me and encourages me to learn and grow.
“The variety on the practical part of the course is great. We have site briefings, do checks on all the mechanical parts in the buildings and learn about how everything at Amazon works seamlessly to deliver for our customers.
“It’s also a lot of fun working with people that inspire me. At Amazon in Hemel Hempstead, we have great events like BBQs for families in the summertime, Halloween fancy dress and festive celebrations like last year’s Winter Wonderland party. I even won a Fujifilm camera for finishing in third place in a Halloween pumpkin carving competition!
“I’m really looking forward to the next two years as an Operations Apprentice and I’d encourage anyone, of any age and background, who’s considering an apprenticeship to apply for the Amazon programme. It has been a life changing experience for me and I highly recommend it.”
As part of National Apprenticeship Week, Amazon has announced that it will be recruiting a further 170 apprentices in fulfilment centres across the UK. From 1 March, there will be opportunities to join apprenticeship schemes in Operations, IT and Engineering in fulfilment centres across the UK. Applications for the Apprenticeship schemes are open until the end of June.
Amazon’s Apprenticeship schemes are designed to suit candidates with a range of experience, from those with life skills to school leavers who are 18+ with GCSEs or A-levels.
