Since opening in September 2017 the new West Herts College campus in Hemel Hempstead has attracted 206 additional full-time students.
This takes the total number to 345, with growth strong across all courses – both existing provision and especially in the new courses introduced with the launching of the redeveloped campus.
West Herts College targets professional skills known to be in demand, working with local employers to develop expertise in these priority areas.
The current curriculum features:
- Building services
- Science, business, computing and IT
- Healthcare science, social care and early years care
Launching in September 2018 is:
- Digital gaming and digital comms
- Travel sector skills
Alongside courses for 16-18 year olds is a range of adult part-time provision, plus access courses to professional careers in nursing.
Planning for Phase 2 of the campus redevelopment is already in preparation, with the ambition being to open a specialist centre for modern construction and engineering by early 2020.
