Maylands Plaza Christmas Carols Event Hits the Right Note with Residents and Businesses

Hemel Hempstead residents, businesses and local dignitaries who braved the winter chill were rewarded with warm seasonal cheer as Hightown held a fun-filled event to celebrate the festive season at their newly opened Maylands Plaza development.

Well-wishers tucked into festive drinks and snacks including mince pies and gingerbread courtesy of Greggs and Starbucks, who also helped to warm up guests with a pop-up coffee stand.

Youngers guests were treated to a free gift from Hemel Hempstead East Children’s Centre, who offered advice and information about the services they provide to local residents. There was also plenty of entertainment with carol singing and festive children’s games including ‘Pin the nose on the reindeer’, ‘Reindeer toss’ and ‘Decorate your own gingerbread’.

Maylands Plaza is a new public space serving Hightown’s recently opened, mixed-use scheme in Hemel Hempstead.  Opened this year, Maylands Plaza provides 130 one and two-bedroom flats, with 53 of the properties for intermediate rent, and the remainder for affordable rent. It also houses 10 commercial units, with local businesses including charity shop Rennie Grove Hospice Care and travel agent Travel 4 Seasons, sitting alongside Greggs and Starbucks.

David Bogle, Hightown Chief Executive said: “Maylands Plaza has provided Hemel Hempstead with much needed affordable homes as well as creating a vibrant new business hub.  We were delighted to welcome residents, businesses and all of those who were involved in the construction of this exciting new scheme to enjoy some seasonal fun and would like to wish all of our residents the very best over the festive season.”
