The Marlowes Launch a Donation Station to help Families this Christmas

The Marlowes Shopping Centre in Hemel are encouraging families to give gifts to those less fortunate than themselves, by partnering with one of the UK’s leading family support charities, Home-Start, to create their very own donation station.

With over 16,000 volunteers to assist 30,000 families and 60,000 children across the UK, Home-Start supports families with young children who have run into parenting difficulties. The charity helps families suffering with issues such as isolation, bereavement, illness, disability and a range of other challenges.

The Marlowes are hoping to give the Home-Start children a Christmas to remember this year, by partnering with the charity prior to their annual Christmas party. A gift donation station has been set up within The Marlowes Shopping Centre, where members of the public can drop off Christmas presents for the Home-Start children to receive at their Christmas party.

Vince Williams, Centre Manager of The Marlowes, says “The decision to partner with Home-Start charity was an easy one for us. The Marlowes has a strong focus on being a family destination, and so ties in perfectly with the work Home-Start are doing to support local families.”

With Home-Start’s Christmas party being held on 9th December, The Marlowes is asking that stocking filler style presents are donated before the event, wrapped and labelled with an age and whether the gift is for a girl, boy, or either.

Suzy Moody, Strategic Manager of Home-Start explains: “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to hold our Donation Station at The Marlowes. We’re so excited to see what lovely gifts the Hemel public will kindly donate to our children.”

Without donations we couldn’t continue helping families and their young children. Christmas is a hugely important time for all of us and to receive donated gifts will make such a difference to these families.”

The charity aims to improve the quality of life for children and their parents across the UK and by donating a stocking-filler-style gift, the public can help them to achieve this. Drop in to The Marlowes Shopping Centre anytime between now and Friday, 8th December during opening hours to give families in need something special this festive season.
