All residents have now moved into Maylands Plaza, Hightown Housing’s flagship development in Hemel Hempstead.
The Maylands Plaza development provides much needed affordable housing for Hemel Hempstead. According to Rightmove, average house prices in Hemel Hempstead currently stand at £367,409, ten times more than the area’s average salary of £29,910.
Located on Maylands Avenue in Hemel Hempstead, the development consists of two modern buildings providing 130 one and two-bedroom flats. 53 of the properties will be for intermediate rent, a scheme for aspiring homeowners saving up a deposit, while the remainder of the flats will be for affordable rent for local people on the Dacorum Borough Council waiting list.
As well as providing new homes, the scheme is expected to transform the local area, creating a new business hub for local companies. A total of 10 shops and an open new public square will sit alongside the housing.
Starbucks and Greggs are already operating at the development and local businesses already signed up include Rennie Grove Hospice Care, Travel 4 Seasons and Indigo Sun. Adeyfield Free Church is also set to relocate to the development from its existing premises on Leverstock Green Road.
