More than £3million is being invested on revamping the roof at The Marlowes Shopping Centre with big plans ahead for an exciting future.
Renovations to the roof are now underway which will see a phased transformation of the centre’s glass roof atrium. The roof works mark the first step of the wider plans to enhance The Marlowes as a shopping and leisure destination where the people of Hemel Hempstead will be able to enjoy an enriched range of shopping, dining and entertainment experiences.
Vince Williams, centre manager, said: “These are exciting times for The Marlowes as the roof works will see the start of larger plans and a longer term investment to revitalise the centre and support the ongoing regeneration of Hemel Hempstead.
“We are working in partnership with our retailers, the local authority and the wider community to help make Hemel Hempstead a thriving and sustainable environment, where local people can be proud of their town centre and visitors can enjoy a positive experience.”
The roof works being carried out will begin in the North Mall and will see around 100 tonnes of glass be removed and replaced across a 12 month period. The new echo-friendly glazing will be high performance glass to prevent heat loss in the winter and overheating during the warmer months and where possible, all materials will be sourced in the UK.
Contractors are managing everything to make sure it creates minimal disruption to both shoppers and retailers.
