Tring Park School named as one of top creative schools in Europe

Business Ambassador Tring Park School for the Performing Arts has been named as one of the top five schools and colleges in the UK and one of the top 40 in Europe by the BE OPEN foundation, a charitable organisation designed to foster creativity and innovation.

The results have been published in a report A Review of Policy, Provision and Excellence in Arts Teaching Across Secondary Education in Europe in BE OPEN’s newly launched Ranking of Educational Programs series of publications.

The report examines creative education in eight European countries and identifies the five strongest schools and/or colleges in each country.

Compiled by WIRED Consulting, the ratings use existing reporting and statistics to rank 20 institutions in each country, with the five leaders highlighted.

BE OPEN’s aim in creating this report is to help define ‘excellence’ and recognise leadership in creative education, helping students make informed choices about what to study and where.

The ranking reveals that there are relatively few schools where one can gain a rich creative experience, most focusing on traditional studies and exam-based work.

However, those which do have the confidence to recognise the potential of creative education are now able to give proven argument for its approach, with pupils being more engaged and obtaining better results overall.

Tring Park is noted in the report for its impressive list of alumni, which includes Thandie Newton, Sarah Brightman, Julie Andrews, Daisy Ridley, Lily James and Drew McOnie, and the fact that most of the teachers are retired or part-time performers.

Tring Park School principal Stefan Anderson said that he was delighted that Tring Park School had been recognised as one of the top five schools and colleges in the UK and one of the top 40 in Europe.

“All of my staff are dedicated to provide outstanding foundations in performing arts education as well as an excellent overall education, which can be seen each year in our impressive GCSE and A Level results.

“Our creative education speaks for itself with the success of our alumni, not just the ones that have made it on the world stage, but our students who have gone on to find success in other sectors of the performing arts world as well as the number of students who have had the confidence to pursue different careers altogether as a result of the broad education they have received at Tring Park.”
